Why is Proper Sharpening Important?
Not sharpening your knife and tool blades properly can lead to poor performance and lowered durability!
That’s right! Using cheap pull through sharpeners may leave your knife acceptably sharp but they also leave a burr on the edge of your blades. This burr is rolled over steel accumulates when improper technique, or in many cases, cheap pull through sharpeners are used.
How can you tell if your blade has a burr once you’ve sharpened it? You should be able to feel a slight resistance with your fingers or fingernails as you approach the newly sharpened edge.
Is it really an issue? While a blade with a burr will cut acceptably, it will dull much quicker. The reason being that the burr eventually brakes itself off leaving a dull area of the blade, or worst yet, chipping along the bottom. By getting your knifes and tools sharpened with us, you are guaranteed to have a burr free, reliably sharp and durable edge to your blades!
